Antique Continental Silver Tea Caddy Spoon with Shell Bowl, Circa 1880–1910
Antique tea-caddy spoon with a deeply fluted scallop-shell bowl, tapered handle and shell-shaped terminal.
The spoon has a historicist design based on earlier Georgian and Rococo silver forms. Its style and construction suggest Continental European production, probably from the late 19th or early 20th century.
A vertical group of worn letter and pictorial marks is present on the reverse of the handle. The marks are not fully identifiable and may be pseudo-hallmarks intended to resemble earlier assay marks. The maker, country of manufacture and silver fineness have not been confirmed.
Suitable for a collection of antique tea wares, Continental silver, decorative serving utensils or shell-form silverware.
