Danish Art Nouveau silver brooch produced by the Copenhagen jewellers Bernhard Hertz in collaboration with the workshop Meyle & Meyer, dating to the early 20th century (circa 1900–1910).
The brooch displays classic Jugendstil organic forms with flowing sculptural lines and a suspended articulated drop element. At the centre sits a beautiful carnelian cabochon.
The reverse is clearly stamped 826, BH and the dragonfly mark, confirming manufacture by the Bernhard Hertz workshop. The 826 silver standard was widely used in Denmark before sterling 925 became common.
