Vintage Silver & Amber Necklace “Zimushka” by Ida Fleitlich. Kaliningrad Amber Combine, 1970s USSR.
This necklace, titled “Zimushka” (Little Winter), is an example of Soviet-era artistic jewellery design. Crafted at the Kaliningrad Amber Factory in the 1970s, the piece was designed by Ida Fleitlich and appears in the factory’s official 1970 catalogue.
Each 875 silver link is sculpted into a stylized female figure with uplifted arms, evoking women dancing in a traditional Russian khorovod (хоровод) circle dance. The flowing, organic shapes of the large, natural Baltic amber drops echo the silhouette of the sarafan—the classic Russian folk dress—infusing the necklace with a poetic sense of movement.
The composition is both elegant and symbolic — a tribute to femininity, rhythm, and cultural beauty.
Authenticated by its hallmark (875 with the Soviet star and hammer), this necklace is documented in the original 1970s catalogue of the Kaliningrad Amber Factory.
