Historical records confirm James Carr traded as a jeweller in Little Belmont Street, Aberdeen, and advertised the business as established in 1881. 
The box has a mottled brown leather-covered exterior with tooled border decoration, a cream fabric-lined lid, deep blue velvet base, hinged construction and push-button clasp. The long interior is suitable for a bracelet, bar brooch, necklace or another elongated jewellery item. B.22
