Antique Liverpool Diamond Merchant Jewellery Box, Brooch or Earrings Case, c.1890–1910
An antique jewellery presentation box retailed by a Liverpool diamond merchant, retaining its original printed silk label reading “Diamond Merchants … Church St, Liverpool, and at Southsea.” Church Street was Liverpool’s principal luxury retail thoroughfare, and jewellers trading there served a prosperous and discerning clientele.
The box is finished in deep burgundy leather with fine decorative edge stitching and opens to reveal a rich cobalt-blue velvet interior. Its compact proportions were intended for the presentation of earrings, a small brooch, or a similarly sized jewel.
Ideal for collectors of antique jewellery presentation boxes or for housing a fine antique jewel in a historically appropriate setting.
