Vintage Bronze Wall Mask "L'inconnue De La Seine”. The Unknown Woman from the Seine.
Vintage bronze wall mask “L'Inconnue de la Seine” (The Unknown Woman from the Seine). The design originates from circa 1935 by Arthur Möller and was later produced in Germany during the 1950s–1960s.
Around 1900, an unidentified young woman was said to have been discovered in the River Seine. Her serene, peaceful expression became unexpectedly famous and inspired generations of artists, writers, and designers. The image evolved into an iconic symbol of quiet beauty and mystery, frequently seen adorning avant-garde studios and interiors.
This piece is a beautiful mid-century interpretation of the celebrated motif, combining sculptural elegance with a richly aged bronze patina.
