WMF Antique Silverplate Oval Serving Tray, Germany c.1903–1910, Ostrich Mark
Large antique oval silverplate serving tray by WMF — Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik, Geislingen, Germany.
The tray is marked with the WMF ostrich in a rhombus, used during the early 20th century, together with the I/O silver-plating grade mark and OX oxidized finish mark. The marks are clear and legible.
The tray has an oval body with chamfered sides, a continuous beaded and foliate border, and two integral handles with acanthus leaf decoration. It is a substantial piece, weighing just under 1 kg, and is suitable for serving, display, or use as a decorative centrepiece.
